Knotted Insertion Stitch

Knotted Insertion Stitch is also known as Knotted Faggot Stitch. This decorative band stitch is commonly used to join two pieces of fabric. The space between dotted lines represents the open area between two pieces of fabric. Ensure that the fabric edges are hemmed before beginning.

Step 1. Come up at A, down at B, up at C. Lay thread over slanting stitch left to right. Slide needle under stitch, then under and over working thread. Pull through.

Step 2. Go down at D, come up at E and pull through. Make loop. Slide left to right behind both threads and cut through loop to form knot. Repeat from B in Step 1.
